Mortality is increased in patients with extranasal organ manifestation, otherwise life expectancy is not reduced.

The quality of life of patients with Osler’s disease is usually severely limited. The fact that it is a “rare disease” (prevalence less than 1 : 2000) is a double burden for patients. It is a difficult clinical picture and almost always patients have to go through the trouble of visiting a specialized center to get the diagnosis and therapy they need. Orphan diseases present a special challenge for both the patient and the physician from many perspectives.
