Activities of daily life in patients with vascular anomalies

Vascular anomalies can pose a considerable challenge to patients in their everyday lives and may also lead to psychosocial problems. As a result of the rarity of the diseases, competent specific medical advice on topics concerning daily life is not easy to find. Relevant literature hardly exists. In addition to medical centers of expertise with interdisciplinary experience in the subject, contact with patient support groups can be a great advantage.

The following chapter tries to give guidance on typical challenging physical and psychological problems in the daily lives of patients with a vascular anomaly.

There are hardly any studies or evidence-based knowledge published on this subject. Therefore the advice provided here should largely be viewed at the evidence level of expert opinions, which are based on more than 20 years of relevant experience, with several thousand patient contacts. The problems addressed here represent a selection of the aspects most frequently discussed in outpatient practice.
